The BYU Athletic Department and the Utah Home Builders Association have formed a partnership through which a new Cougar House is built each year. Proceeds from the sale of each house are donated to the Athletic Department for athletic scholarships and other athletic department needs.
Since inception in 2001, eight homes have been built in different locations throughout Utah County (Provo, Springville, Mapleton, Lehi, Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs). In the first seven years of the program, more than $1 million had been raised to benefit the BYU Athletic Department, helping it to remain self-sufficient as well as provide for student scholarships.
Cougar House proceeds have fully endowed two full-ride athletic scholarships. In addition, nearly 30 student-athletes have benefited from the Cougar House success. In 2004, the Cougar House provided scholarships for every member of BYU's starting offensive line and the proceeds from Cougar House V paid for the new white football helmets the team used that year.
