Ianeta Le'i enters her second season with BYU as an assistant coach. Prior to joining the coaching staff, Lei worked as a graduate assistant after playing at BYU for four seasons. Her responsibilities include assisting with on-field development, recruiting and games management.
Le'i, who is originally from Oahu, Hawaii, is BYU softball's all-time leader in hits, RBI and doubles. Le'i played for the Cougars from 2003-06. She left her mark on BYU softball as a four-time All-Mountain West Conference selection and a two-time MWC Player of the Year.
Le'i won the MWC Triple Crown her senior season with a .541 batting average, 11 home runs and 38 RBI. She also set BYU's single season records for at-bats (206), hits (85) and RBI (82) during the same 2006 season.
In addition to her conference accolades, Le'i was named First Team Easton All-American in 2006. The award marked the fourth consecutive year Le'i was honored by Easton. She earned honorable mention as a freshman, was named to the third team as a sophomore, and was a second team selection as a junior.
