PROVO, Utah (April 29, 2007) -- Following the 2007 NFL Draft on Sunday, eight former BYU players signed free-agent contracts and will head off to team mini-camps this week. Free-agents will also participate in summer camps in August, looking to make their respective team's 53-man roster.
Las Vegas Bowl MVP Jonny Harline will be heading to catch passes from the NFL's premier quarterback, Peyton Manning in Indianapolis, while Dan Coats has singed a free-agent contract with Cincinnati. Receiver Zac Collie will be heading to Philadelphia as a free agent, while BYU's all-time leading rusher, Curtis Brown, is heading to the Cleveland Browns.
Offensive linemen Jake Kuresa and Eddie Keele are also heading to the NFL. Kuresa signed a contract with New Orleans and Eddie Keele is on his way to Oakland.
Linebacker Aaron Wagner has signed with the New York Jets, while BYU's top defender the past three seasons, Cameron Jensen, has signed with Seattle and will look to contribute at either inside or outside linebacker.
"I'll go out there this week and learn the system," he said. "My hope is that I'll be able to learn from the guys already there and start working my way up the depth chart. I feel good about going to Seattle. I felt if it came down to going in as a free agent, I wanted to go to Seattle. I feel like I'll be in a good situation there. It's a good deal for me all the way around."
