PROVO, Utah (May 12, 2005)--Rain washed away the first game Thursday night
of a three-game set between BYU and UNLV, the top two teams in the Mountain West Conference.

The game will be made up Friday as part of a doubleheader with the first game starting at 3 p.m. (MDT).

The weather appeared to be good until just 15 minutes before game time when a hard rain began. With the weather forecast for Friday looking much better and more rain looming, the two coaches decided to postpone the game.

The Cougars' (33-15-1, 17-7, MWC) hard-throwing Dave Horlacher (5-2, 3.91 ERA) will likely start Friday's first game with lefty Lance Beus (1-1, 5.40) pitching in the nightcap.

Friday's 3 p.m. start will not have live radio on KOVO 960 AM. However, 960 AM will carry the night cap, which will be played at 7 p.m. (MDT). The 7 p.m. game will be televised live locally on KBYU TV (channel 11) and delayed on Saturday at 11 a.m. (MDT) nationally on BYUTV.
