The Cougar Club honored members of the Jesse and Amanda Knight Society at the pregame event prior to the BYU v. TCU game on October 24, 2009.

The Jesse and Amanda Knight Society is a group of donors who have named BYU in their wills, trusts, life insurance policies, or other estate planning methods. Donors may choose the area(s) on campus they want their gifts to bless. Many Knight Society donors have specified BYU Athletics to receive their future gifts.

Members who have specified BYU Athletics as the recipient of a gift through a will, trust, life insurance policy, or other deferred giving tool were recognized as the first group of donors the Cougar Club has honored at a pregame event.

Wes Mashburn, a Knight Society donor, said of the event, “It was great to have the opportunity to see other donors who have planned ahead to make gifts for future BYU student athletes. I enjoy Cougar Club, and it was nice to be there representing the Knight Society as well.”

There are also many Knight Society donors who are Cougar Club members even though their deferred gifts may be specified for other areas on campus. Regardless of the designation, all the deferred gifts reflect the donor’s commitment to future growth and success of BYU.

Mashburn expressed his goal this way, “I may not be able to give much now, but I hope the gift my wife and I have put together will help generations to come.”
