Willis receives Academic All-District Award

PROVO, Utah (Oct. 30, 2009) - Senior defender Andrea Willis has been named to the 2009 CoSIDA ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team.

To receive this award, athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position listed and must be a starter with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.

Willis has started every game in her four years at BYU and currently has a 3.67 GPA in Exercise Science.

Willis has received two MWC Defensive Player of the Week nominations this season and was also added to the 2009 Hermann Trophy Watch List as a Division I soccer athlete.

Willis is one-of-two women's soccer players from the Mountain West Conference to be named to the District 8 Second Team. Lauren Dudley from the University of Utah was also named.

Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district. Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America association.
