Designated hitter Kent Walton and third baseman Steve Parker of BYU have been named Monday to the Mountain West Conference first team.

Joining the Cougar duo are second team selections Stetson Banks, Jordan Muir and Blake Torgerson.

Walton, a senior from Yucaipa, Calif., is tied for the team homerun lead with Parker, a junior from American Fork, as both first-team selections have hit nine. Walton was a second-team selection last season and was a 42nd round draft by the Oakland A’s. Parker was a MWC player of the week selection earlier this year against Utah.

Banks, an sophomore outfielder from Mesa, Ariz., and Walton are among the team’s leaders in stolen bases with 21 and 15, respectively.

Muir, a senior from Las Vegas, broke the school record with 11 saves this season in as a relieving pitcher.

Torgerson, a junior from Westminster, Calif., is tied for the team lead with six victories during the regular season and was honored earlier this season as the MWC pitcher of the week against the Air Force Academy.
