PROVO, Utah (April 21, 2008) -- BYU will be hosting the 2008 Robison Invitational from Wednesday, April 23, to Saturday, April 26, at Clarence Robison Track.

Combined events will be held on Wednesday and Thursday with running and field events being held on Friday and Saturday.

The following teams have indicated they will be competing: BYU, Idaho State, Utah State, Barton County Community College, Utah Valley, Utah, Weber State, Southern Utah and selected athletes from Boise State.

The BYU men's track and field team is ranked No. 11 in the USTFCCCA rankings. The Cougars are led by 2008 indoor All-Americans Kyle Perry (3,000m), Keith Jensen (800m) and Matt Weirich (pole vault). In addition, sophomore Leif Arrhenius currently holds the longest discus throw in the nation -- 207 feet, 1 inch.

The BYU women's team is the defending Outdoor MWC Champions. The 2008 All-American indoor distance medley relay runners, Stacy Slight, Katie Palmer, Carlee Clark-Platt and Angela Wagner, have all excelled so far in the outdoor season. Wagner has the fourth-fasted 3,000-meter steeplechase time in the nation (10:12.04). Slight, Palmer and Platt are the top three 800-meter runners in the MWC.

Clarence Robison Track was completely renovated in 2002 with a state-of-the-art Mondo Super X surface. The track, with a revamped drainage system, provides one of the best workout and competition facilities in the West. In 2006, BYU hosted the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships and the NCAA Outdoor Regionals.

Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for students and children enter for free.
